AHS 2004 Hosta Show Classification List

The AHS has made this interesting list available on their site. It is meant to help in judging registered hostas. These 86 pages (in .pdf format) list all registered hostas (including those from 2003 :) ) together with leaf length & width, leaf center & margin color and the show class.

It gives us a first glimpse of the 2003 registrations (308 of them) which can be added to our database. Other info can be checked against our database. Errors can be reported to George Schmid.

Where can I buy Essence of Summer? I saw a gorgeous hosta at a friends house. Dark green leaf, mound type with very large fragrant almost pure white flowers. The flowers were so large, I thought it was a lily at first. They weren't lined up along a spike as most hostas I know of, but were more clustered. Looking at your picture of Essence of Summer, I would guess that that's it. I have a lot of shade on my property and would love to add this to my gardens.
