Available for the first time in spring, 1999. A H. hypoleuca hybrid, with very large, dark, glossy green leaves with white beneath, heart-shaped with prominent veining and slightly puckered.. The leaves are not quite as large as 'Sum and Substance', but I think the color and form is much better. Our oldest undivided plant is about 4 years old, growing in a 25 gallon pot. The largest leaf measures 16" long and 13" wide, and the plant is 6' across. Since hostas do not get as large in pots as in the ground, I would assume that it will be a bit larger at maturity in the ground. By comparison, our display plant of 'Sum and Substance', which has been in a 25 gallon container for a year or two longer, is about 5' across, because of its more upright growth, and the largest leaf measures 17-18" long and 14" wide.
